Coonawarra
is renowned for its cool climate and soil that
produces grapes of exceptional flavour and
intensity. The Schoolhouse vineyard is near the
town of Penola, in the heart of the "terra rossa"
soil region. While Coonawarra is generally flat
terrain, this vineyard is one of the few in
Coonawarra with a noticeable slope.
Soils are deep
red terra rossa loam over limestone on 37 Hectares
(91 Acres) and the annual rainfall is 582mm (23
inches). Elevation is 60 metres.
